METHODOLOGY

How productive and efficient we use our time on the job, greatly affects the financial bottom line, as well as the excellence, success and growth of our organisations.

Productivity in turn, is affected by many factors: An individual’s overall health and fitness (physically, mentally, emotionally), their motivation and loyalty, and their capacity for focus, attention span, resilience, mental agility and creativity. It is each individual’s situational-, organizational- and emotional-intelligence-awareness, that helps our organisations run more efficient and cost effective. Willingness to work with change, to work in teams and across teams, the capacity to communicate, motivate, empower and to give and take instructions and responsible initiative are crucial skills on any level of management and leadership. In addition, these competencies are strengthened or weakened according to one’s ability to manage outer and inner stress and handle pressure.  

These essential character traits or personal competencies are often called ‘soft-skills’, a sense of mental and emotional strength and control. They can be learned, cultivated and strengthened. That is the objective of EastPoint’s mindfulness based EMPLOYEE, LEADERSHIP and CEO PROGRAMS.

Supported by the conclusions from scientific research studies we can list benefits of the mindfulness techniques we use in four categories:

Recent scientific research studies help us understand how ‘mindfulness techniques’ provide a valuable tool for the development of those human capacities mentioned above. Continued research on the practical effects of mindfulness is being conducted by many universities and research institutions, in the field of human behaviourism, leadership development, psychology, neuroscience, education, health and stress management.

Mindfulness techniques are now being used by corporations like Google, Deutsche Bank, by some military and peacekeeping units in pre-deployment training, by over 250 hospitals in North America, and in schools across the world.

We have applied these mindfulness techniques for the past 30 years in training programs and operations in the context of an international unarmed security organisation that has worked with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, U.S. State Department, and various U.S. Police and Defense Departments to handle crowd control and personal-security for dignitaries including the Dalai Lama, United Nations Secretary-General U Thant, and others.

EastPoint is also using these techniques as part of customised pre-deployment modules for NGOs, Peacekeeping Training Centres and Peace and Conflict Transformation Programs at Universities.

EastPoint’s corporate programs teach a number of mindfulness techniques, provide understanding about their science, principles and benefits, and train participants how to apply these techniques practically and beneficially on their job in action. Besides guided mindfulness and awareness techniques, the programs include light Chi Gung exercises, and body scanning, focussing, relaxing and energizing exercises. Some exercises focus more on recognizing stress and its effects, and on how to manage stress as it happens. Others address specific work or leadership related capacities. We also offer ongoing support and mentorship for continued learning and development.
